Simons Town, one of South Africa’s oldest towns, can be found nestled on False Bay within easy distance of Cape Town International Airport. The village is rich in history, character and atmosphere. The town, named after Simon van der Stel, an early governor of the Cape Colony has for more than two centuries been a naval base and harbour; first for the Royal Navy and now the South African Navy. At Boulders Beach, located a few kilometres to the south of Simons Town, you will find a colony of African penguins. This is one of only three penguin populations on the mainland of southern Africa.
