DINOKENG GAME RESERVE – THE BIG FIVE ON YOUR DOORSTEP

Would you believe us if we told you that that there is a malaria free, big five reserve within easy reach of Johannesburg and Pretoria? Well, it’s true. Dinokeng Game Reserve is only a 30 minute drive from Pretoria and an hour from Johannesburg. The name Dinokeng aptly means “place of rivers”,  and the reserve is famous for its game viewing which includes the big five, cheetahs and hyena’s, all of which roam freely over 18 500 hectares.

The reserve boasts a wide selection of accommodation options from fully catered lodges to caravan sites and everything in-between. A number of licensed restaurants with a range of menus cater for all needs. For guests who prefer to do things at their own pace there are self-drive routes available for both high clearance vehicles and sedans. Guided tours are also available for those that enjoy an interpretive game drive.

However, in amongst the array of lodges, restaurants and activities there is a lodge that stands out; Mongena Private Game Lodge.  Mongena offers luxury, fully inclusive accommodation. The main lodge’s 24 air-conditioned en-suite rooms are strategically positioned in the beautiful, indigenous landscaped gardens, and the in-room facilities are everything you would expect from a luxury lodge. They even have a wheelchair friendly twin room. Lodge facilities include a bar, swimming pool and restaurant. You may also be lucky enough to spot one of the resident zebra's, nyala's or springboks on the lawns of the lodge. Activities include guided game drives and walks and a sunset cruise which docks at the Boat House, an ideal venue for that an ideal venue for that special conference dinner, product launch, wedding or any group function with the upper deck providing breath-taking views over the indigenous bushveld.

Don’t you think it’s time you visited mtbeds to book your stay?
