Aptly named because of its unique flat top, Table Mountain is one of the oldest mountains in the world estimated at 260-million years old. Overlooking Cape Town and the Atlantic Ocean, it is one of the most popular tourist attractions South Africa has to offer. Over 150 00 tourists visit this popular attraction every year via cableway with some visitors opting to hike to the top. Flanked by Lion’s Head to the west and Devil’s Peak to the east, the mountain forms part of the Table Mountain National Park, which is home to numerous endemic species of flora and fauna. Maclear's Beacon marks the highest point at 1085 metres.
