The Republic of Mozambique is a country in Southeast Africa bordered by the Indian Ocean to the east. This sovereign state is separated from the Comoros, Mayotte and Madagascar by the Mozambique Channel. Mozambique gained independence in 1975, becoming the People's Republic of Mozambique shortly thereafter. Mozambique is endowed with rich and extensive natural resources. The country's economy is based largely on agriculture, but industry is growing. The country is fast becoming the “go to” destination for island and tropical beach holidays. The diving and snorkelling are sublime, and its proximity to the Kruger National Park make it perfect for a bush and beach holiday.
